How to Use ClaimVault
Click "Add Item" and enter name, category, brand, model, serial, purchase details. Upload photos and receipt photos. Everything is compressed and stored locally.
Go to Policy Vault. Enter your insurer, policy number, coverage limit, dates. Upload your policy wording PDF and schedule. This is your defense against unfair denials.
Type any symbol or code in the header field — $, €, R, ₹, KSh, R$. Saved automatically.
Backup tab → Choose Folder → pick a folder inside Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, or Nextcloud. Save anytime — your cloud client uploads automatically.
Claims tab → New Claim → enter loss details → select affected items → save. Then upload every letter, email, and form your insurer sends you to that claim.
If they deny, adjust, or delay — you have the receipts, the photos, the ACV math, the policy wording, and every letter they ever sent. That's what a real vault is for.
Your vault lives in your browser's IndexedDB and localStorage. If you clear your browser data without a backup, everything is gone. Always keep a recent backup in your cloud folder. Redundancy beats recovery.

1. Privacy — Fully Client-Side
ClaimVault runs entirely in your browser. All items, photos, receipts, policy documents, insurer letters, and claim data are stored locally using IndexedDB and localStorage. No personal data is transmitted to any server by this application.
2. Your Cloud Folder — Your Control
Optional folder sync writes files only to a directory you explicitly select. Your cloud provider handles any subsequent upload. ClaimVault has no access to your cloud account.
3. Document Storage
Photos and receipts are compressed in your browser. Policy documents and insurer correspondence are stored as-is so they remain legally legible. Original files never leave your device.
4. Insurance Claim Disclaimer
ClaimVault is a documentation tool, not insurance advice, not legal advice, and not a substitute for professional guidance. Insurance policies, coverage terms, and claim procedures vary widely by country, region, and insurer. Always consult your insurer and, where necessary, a licensed professional regarding your specific claim.
5. Depreciation / ACV Calculations
Actual cash value (ACV) calculations use simple straight-line depreciation with category-specific useful-life estimates. Real insurers may use different methods. ACV and "Insure For" figures are estimates only.
6. Currency & Locale
You set the currency symbol yourself. ClaimVault does not perform exchange-rate conversion. Use a single currency per vault to keep reporting consistent.
7. Data Loss Disclaimer
You are solely responsible for maintaining backups. Browser storage can be cleared by you, by browser updates, by privacy extensions, or by operating-system actions.
8. Warranty — Provided "As Is"
ClaimVault is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
9. Regional Legal Compliance
Users are responsible for ensuring their use complies with local laws. Insurance documentation requirements differ across jurisdictions.
10. Prohibited Use
ClaimVault may not be used to fabricate, falsify, or misrepresent ownership or loss for the purpose of insurance fraud, which is a criminal offense in most jurisdictions.
